Tankah Magica
Description
Just a short way from Tulum, villa Tankah Magica sits tucked amongst the coconut palms, on the sandy shore of Tankah Tres Bay. This bright and well equipped four bedroom, three bath villa and the bay itself, exudes the casual, tropical charm that the Riviera Maya was known for before all the McMansions and Mega Resorts arrived and started to dominate many of the area beaches.
But why go anywhere? Tankah Tres Bay itself is picture perfect ring of white sand beach and tranquil blue water that is protected by an outer reef making it ideal for swimming, snorkeling and kayaking. All of which are available right at your doorstep. Adding to the natural beauty of the bay, is a fresh water cenote (sink hold fed by underwater river) located just a short walk from the villa. This gorgeous natural swimming hole has glass clear water and is a most inviting place to swim, snorkel or dive.
Turn off of the Cancun – Tulum highway and meander a very short way down the dirt track leading to the tranquil shores of Tankah Tres bay, and the hustle and bustle of everyday life at home will drift away like the dust in the rear view mirror of your rental car. Pull into the sandy driveway of this charming beachfront villa, turn off the car, kick off your shoes, step out into the powdery white sand, take a deep breath of the warm salt tinged tropical air…. and know that you have arrived in paradise.
The villa and location are unforgettable and charming. Coconut palms and tropical gardens frame the villa. The tiled beachside freshwater pool and stunning turquoise blue waters of the Caribbean complete this idyllic vision of a tropical paradise. The beach and pool area are well furnished with lounge chairs and hammocks. Tankah Tres Bay is fronted by the world’s second largest reef that stretches from Belize to the tip of the Yucatan. Here the coral reef system is flourishing with life.
Step inside Tankah Magica and you will fall under her charm. Bright colors, traditional Mexican tiles of ceramic and terracotta. Indigenous hard woods and Talavera accent pieces all confirm that you are in Mexico. Comfortable furnishings and a full list of amenities ensure that your stay is without hardship.
The main living area with its ocean and pool front exposure has a nice grouping of couches and chairs for the family or friends to relax, share conversation, or watch a movie. Sliding glass doors open to a large covered terrace, the pool and beach. A hand made dining table set is conveniently positioned between the living area and kitchen. But why eat indoors…. here in the tropics we love to eat ‘al fresco’,so a large dining set is awaiting you under the covered terrace with a great view of the ocean. The cheerful kitchen of the villa is set up with everything you should need to prepare all your meals.
The ground floor has three bedrooms which are all accessed off of the living room. On the north end is a large bedroom with King bed, en-suite bathroom with shower and sliding glass door to access the covered terrace, pool and beach. The other two ground floor bedrooms are on the south side of the living room and split by a bathroom with shower. One of the bedrooms has a King bed and sliding door access to the terrace, pool and ocean. The other bedroom has garden view and fitted with Twin beds.
Upstairs on the 2nd level is another Master suite with King bed and en-suite marble finished bathroom with shower. Like the other beds in the home, this has a removable mosquito netting that when in place, adds to the tropical flair of the home. The bedroom enjoys an ocean view and private access to a very large terrace with sitting and lounge areas.
The very large and inviting terrace on the 2nd level can be accessed directly from the Master bedroom, or through an indoor sitting area that is at the top of the stairs. A shaded area offers plenty of seating for the whole group or a quiet hideaway to curl up with a novel. The 2nd floor terrace also has an open sunning area with chaise lounge chairs for another alternative for relaxing apart from the group. From this area, a stairway leads to the roof where a mirador (observation area) with comfy couch is the ideal place to enjoy an evening cocktail as the sun sets, or for the early riser, a perfect place to catch the sunrise while you contemplate another day in paradise of doing nothing.
This villa truly is for beach lovers, with the entire home surrounded by white powdery sand and great outdoor spaces on the beach side of the home. Tankah Bay is still a laid back tropical paradise where you will be away from it all, yet close enough to all the Riviera Maya has to offer so that you will not feel stranded in paradise should you wish to get out and explore. Please note that this region of the Riviera Maya may be affected by shifting seasonal currents and weather patterns causing an influx of seaweed on the beach.
Tulum with its’ funky charm, unique restaurants & shops, fabulous beaches and famous Mayan Ruins is a short 10 – 15 minute drive to the south. Just beyond is the Sian Kaan Biosphere Reserve with 1.3 million acres of unspoiled natural beauty. Heading in other directions there are the Mayan Ruins of Coba and Muyil less than an hour away and the incredible Mayan Ruins of Chichen Itza easily accessible for a day trip. Jungle canopy tours, eco parks, golf, tennis, and deep sea fishing charters are all just a short drive away.
